The first home game for Premier Gold at Petro Canada ended up being an almost perfect outing for the team. Ramblers won the toss and elected to bat first. The pitch was spongy and the outfield very slow. It proved out to be a very tough wicket to bat on however Harman Dhindsa held fort at one end while we lost the first three wickets. This gave Shamit Raj a chance to play naturally and they both quickly got into a partnership. After Harman, Azhar Sheikh joined Shamit and continued the momentum with a quick 32. Shamit went along in his stylish manner and with very few mistakes, ended up with 60 registering the first half century for Premier Gold this season. Ramblers ended with a commendable total of 178 on a tricky wicket.
Ramblers opened the bowling with Faisal Jamkhandi and Shamit Raj. Faisal unsettled the batsmen with his fiery pace and witty changes while Shamit kept landing at the right spot yielding him 4 wickets from his 10 over spell. The opposition was cleaned up for 100 after accurate bowling from Jagjit Randhawa (who got his 3 wickets in a hat-trick) and Ravi Dandiwal.
Ramblers won by 78 runs after a stand-out performance by Shamit!
