Sunday’s fixture saw the Premier Maroon take on Indo-Pak CC at Petro-Canada. Indo-Pak won the toss and decided to bat.
Opening the bowling were fast bowlers Rocky and Yash, who got the Premier Maroon off to a flying start with their great spells, restricting the opening batsmen to a low score.
After just 12 overs, play was interrupted due to rainfall which kept the players off the pitch for an hour.
When the weather conditions improved, Abhay and Krishna came on to bowl. Abhay took 3 wickets in quick succession which helped gained momentum for the team. Krishna on the other hand, continued his fine form by bowling 8 overs and giving away just 4 runs.
However, the highlights of the innings was Talha’s fantastic 5-wicket haul which played a major role in bowling Indo-Pak out for a low total of 86 runs.
Due to the inclement weather, the Duckworth-Lewis method was used to increase the Premier Maroon’s target to 93.
The second innings did not start as planned, with the batting order collapsing. However, Sunil showed great patience to repair the damage.
Abhay, scoring 21, and Yash 22*, were able to save the day and help the team cross the line with a well-deserved one wicket win.
